Learn from the professionals

Students have the opportunity to learn cinematography and camera functions from the pros. Students will quickly become familiar with industry standard equipment and film production terminology. Narrative and Cinematic advanced film camps use Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Cameras.

Learn video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro

Students interesting in editing will be excited for the opportunity to learn Premiere Pro and Audition when editing our short films. This is a great opportunity aspiring filmmakers to learn more about digital media post production skills and to build student’s digital portfolio.

🚀 Embark on a thrilling adventure with NW Film Camp's week-long day camps this summer! Dive into content creation and digital storytelling, where students create short videos, stop-motion films, and character animations that they can be genuinely proud of. Our Creator Camp is focused on collaboration and storytelling. Students will have a blast planning and crafting creative content with a positive message while making new friends this summer. Over the years, Digital Short weeks have been our most popular camp! Aspiring filmmakers and content creators spend the week producing short films, vlogs, music videos, and other "Digital Shorts". This open ended program allows young filmmakers to “think outside the box” to create short films designed to be shared on social media, YouTube and TikTok. Projects range from sketch comedy, mockumentary, the avant-garde and beyond. Perfect for Beginners and students interested in Production Design, Editing, Cinematography and collaboration.

NARRATIVE FILMMAKING (Ages 12-17)

Filmmaking Fundamentals, Learn the craft ! Perfect for young writers and directors. Narrative short film production is all about writing for the screen and learning how to tell a compelling story through minimal dialog and direction. This week we focus on cinematic storytelling. Our Narrative film camp centers around a screenplay (script) and the actors’ performance. Advanced camera and lighting techniques are featured in these sessions. This challenging course is a lot of fun! Now enrolling for the next Ava DuVernay, Berry Jenkins, or Stanley Kubrick.

Our Advanced camps are challenging and rewarding opportunities for aspiring filmmakers to work on projects that can be submitted for scholarships, grant opportunities, film festivals, education applications and digital portfolios as proof of work. Students gain front line production experience and on set protocol training, in a safe and supportive learning environment. Advanced Camp alumni are invited to join our Teen Filmmaker Lab in 2025 at no cost and are also eligible for future internships and production work.

  • 8:30 - Drop off / Check in

  • 9:00 - Instruction / Pre-production

  • 10:30 - Onset Film Production

  • 12:00 - Lunch Break - Bring a lunch!

  • 12:30 - Team Building Outside

  • 12:45 - Continue Filming

  • 1:30 - Post-production work

  • 2:30 - Pick up - No later than 3:00pm

Tuition and Fees Refund Policy - If you are forced to cancel for any reason you will receive your full purchase price as a transferable credit, good for any NW Film Camp session through 2025. Tuition is non-refundable.

  • Programs rooted in Storytelling: our mission is to empower aspiring filmmakers to discover their creative voices, cultivate their cinematic skills, and foster a lifelong passion for storytelling through the art of film.

  • Professional level editing skill building : Students hone their editing skills and learn to use professional grade editing software such as Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Audition. Students build their digital portfolio for collage and beyond while learning the tricks of the trade.

  • Leadership and Team Building: Students are expected to collaborate and work together in teams to produce their films. NW Film Camp teaching artists will challenge aspiring filmmakers to take on leadership positions throughout the collaborative filmmaking process.
